TARUWA Special
This week’s Taruwa was dubbed Taruwa Special for a simple reason: It was a Special Taruwa night. Cheeky? I think not. This Taruwa was dedicated to the people living with HIV/AIDS and also committed to creating an awareness among the youth. Using mediums like music, poetry, spoken word and other art forms; these week’s participants ( which include MI, Crimind, Jeffrey Plumbline, Chiedu, Etcetera, OD, JD, Ernest, Olatoks, Bez Idakula, Guchi, Madonna and Ira) poured out their hearts while giving a varying view on the epidemic.
Saul Williams: Liner Notes from D’angelo’s Voodoo Album
We have come adorned in the apparel of the anointed: leather and feathers, jeans and t-shirts, linen and cashmere, and even polyester. We have come to seduce and serenade the night and the powers of darkness. We speak of darkness, not as ignorance, but as the unknown and the mysterious of the unseen.

TARUWA (The Reunion)
The 2009 maiden edition of Taruwa (titled: The Reunion) attested to the hunger and thirst for the good old Taruwa days. The new venue, Black Pearl (on Akin Adesola, Victoria Island) was bursting with old faces and new attendees. Poetry, Music, Graphic Arts, and laughter were the dishes deliciously served by performers like Seun Olaniyan, Bez Idakula, Madonna, Jimoh, Azuka, Dapo (re-introduced Taruwa), Dipo, Niyi, Efize, Gboyega, Chioma, Kelechi and Seun.

Taruwa Event (21-10-2008)
This is the second Taruwa we are holding at Jazz Sessions (our new home) and its kinda obvious that the ‘family’ has warmed to the new home. We still need to get noise filters or probably appoint a ‘chief whip’ for all those people that just wanna come to Taruwa and distract us from all the creativity.

The move to Jazz Sessions.
Taruwa is a bit over a year old, and the crowd keeps growing as fast as the gifted and talented participants. For a lot of Nigerians (yeah, not just Lagosians), that second Tuesday is as important as their birthdays. The move from Bogobiri (which has been home to Taruwa over the past year) to Jazz Sessions was a major necessity.
